As part of our core values at Colorado College, we encourage engagement and social responsibility at all times. In this unfortunate time of the global COVID-19 pandemic, our social responsibility to each other and our community becomes even more important. At Colorado College, we have always recognized that each of us has an important role to play in creating a safe, healthy community in which we can all thrive and it is up to each of us to conscientiously do our part and recognize that our individual actions and decisions may greatly impact the health and well-being of fellow community members.
As we live, learn, and work together, each of us must observe heightened health and safety precautions in the coming academic year. Our top priority is the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and the greater community – we must all do our part. And our mission, as always, is to deliver the finest liberal arts education in the country. Therefore, we want to come together in a way that allows us to deliver the distinctive and immersive Colorado College academic program while responsibly adhering to health requirements and working to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Inclusion and Patience
1. Avoiding Discrimination- In recognition of the respect and dignity that every human being deserves, and in accordance with our institutional commitment to being an anti-racist institution, I will not promote or participate in exclusionary behavior that impedes the access and opportunities of other community members, on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, marital status, disability, religion, veteran status, age or any other status protected under local, state or federal law.
2. Providing Support – We acknowledge this is a stressful and overwhelming time, particularly for those of us in marginalized communities who do not have equal access to COVID-19 prevention measures. I will employ patience and understanding to the best of my ability to support everyone in the CC Community.
Monitor and Care
1. Regular Monitoring – I will regularly monitor myself for the symptoms of COVID-19. If I display symptoms such as a fever of 100.4 F (38C) or higher, dry cough, difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell, I will immediately report to a medical professional and avoid contact with other members of the community, notify Campus Safety, and follow the college’s protocols for isolation or quarantine.
2. Practicing Daily Self-Care – To the best of my ability, I will support my overall wellness. Self-care means being actively engaged in taking care of ourselves -- physically, emotionally, spiritually. Developing a repertoire of self-care strategies that we engage in regular, ongoing ways is a key part of remaining healthy and well and can help us be responsive to stress before it becomes overwhelming.
Prevention
1. Wearing Face Covering, Practicing Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette – I will make health-conscious decisions that will limit my exposure and the exposure of others to COVID-19 including adhering to guidelines for wearing a face covering, practicing proper hand washing, hand sanitizing, and respiratory etiquette (covering my cough or sneeze).
2. Avoiding Crowds - Recognizing that some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus, I will avoid crowded places and avoid mass gatherings both on and off campus when college and/or public health guidelines recommend to do so.
3. Social Distancing – I will practice proper social distancing. When I leave campus, I will observe local city and state policies regarding safe physical distancing.
4. Discouraging Unsafe Behavior - I will discourage unsafe and unsanitary behavior in others, when I see them. Options I have in discouraging such behaviors include speaking with my fellow community member and/or notifying RLCs, my supervisor, Human Resources, or Campus Safety.
5. Providing Notification – I will inform Campus Safety (and my supervisor, if a college employee) if I am notified through a public health department that I have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 case.
6. Observing Travel Restrictions and Quarantine Measures- I will comply with the college’s non-essential travel restrictions and follow state guidelines. If I have been traveling internationally and am planning to re-enter the campus environment, I must follow state and local health department recommendations and requirements.
Observing Space Restrictions
1. I will adhere to the guidelines the college has established for the use of spaces on campus and college property.
